(Course Objectives and Contents) :
This course will focus on providing a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of phycology, with particular emphasis on the ability to identify algae in the field and knowledge related to the evolutionary ecology of algae. Therefore, the course will include activities such as laboratory experiments, field sampling and observation, reading of recent research papers on algae, and group discussions. The course aims to engage students in a lively manner, immersing them in the world of algae and demonstrating how algal research can contribute to human life and its applications. This course aims to provide an understanding of the basic classification and physiological structure of fish, and to explore the interactions between fish and other organisms and their environment. Furthermore, the course will examine the role and significance of fish in human society and conservation. Fish are important vertebrates in aquatic ecosystems, distributed widely across different regions and environments, including freshwater, brackish, and marine environments. Their high adaptability and long evolutionary history have endowed fish with diverse ecological behaviors and habitats. Additionally, fish serve as a crucial source of protein for humans. However, in recent years, due to excessive environmental exploitation and the increasing human population and activities, fish populations have been severely disrupted. This course will also discuss the current impacts on fish populations in various ecosystems and potential conservation measures. In addition to lectures, the course will involve practical activities to understand the methods used in fish classification, physiology, and ecology research.
