課程目標及內涵 (Course Objectives and Contents) :
生理學是一門研究生命現象運作原理的科學。秉承古希臘以降的傳統,生理學應用解剖學、物理及化學的基礎知識來闡明生物系統運行的原理。生理學也融入了近代生物學發展的細胞學、遺傳學、生化學、分子生物學等知識與技術,在細胞與分子的層次闡釋生命現象。人體生理學的重心在於介紹人體內從細胞,器官,到系統的各個層次之間,彼此的聯繫和交互作用。教學的內容將著重於人體各個部份之間進行溝通、協調、抑制及反饋等過程的機制,進而闡明人體內各個系統如何共同運作以在不斷變化的外在環境中維持個體生命的恒定性。課程將適時應用臨床教案提供學生分組討論的機會,並訓練學生閱讀英文獻的能力。
Physiology is a science that studies the principles underlying life phenomena. Following the tradition established since ancient Greece, physiology applies the foundational knowledge of anatomy, physics, and chemistry to elucidate the functioning of biological systems. It also integrates knowledge and techniques from modern biology, including cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology, to explain life phenomena at the cellular and molecular levels. Human physiology focuses on the interconnections and interactions between various levels, from cells and organs to systems within the human body. The teaching content emphasizes the mechanisms involved in communication, coordination, inhibition, and feedback processes among different parts of the human body, elucidating how various systems collaborate to maintain homeostasis in response to the constantly changing external environment. The course will incorporate clinical case studies to provide students with opportunities for group discussions and train them in reading English literature.
